Stress Less, Live More: The Real Rewards of Work Life Balance

The world is changing rapidly, and the way we work is evolving along with it.  guest, Silvia Boller, the CEO and founder of T-Bridge GmbH, a company in Switzerland that promotes flexible working models and digital collaboration. She’s on a mission to help organizations create sustainable work-life cultures, enabling employees and employers to thrive together.

A Journey to Flexibility and Entrepreneurship

Silvia shared that her journey into the digital nomad lifestyle wasn’t exactly conventional. While many digital nomads travel constantly, Silvia has a base in Switzerland, where she balances family life with her growing business. She explains that flexibility became crucial when she realized the mismatch between her job’s demands and her family’s needs. With school-aged children, who often have more weeks off than the average worker's vacation time, Silvia saw a need to adjust her approach to work and life.

Her solution? Begin traveling with her children during school breaks, integrating work into their trips. “I wouldn’t call myself a traditional digital nomad,” Silvia says, “but I focus on flexibility—living a lifestyle that fits my needs while growing my business.”

The Birth of T-Bridge GmbH

After finding herself stretched thin between family, work, and personal passions like fitness, Silvia knew she had to make a change. Two years ago, she left her full-time job to create T-Bridge GmbH. The company's goal? To promote flexible work models that allow people to balance professional responsibilities with personal well-being.

T-Bridge helps organizations implement these flexible working structures, particularly in Switzerland, a country Silvia notes is still in the early stages of embracing digitalization and flexible work. “In Switzerland, we are at the beginning of understanding what true work-life flexibility can look like,” she explains.

A Day in the Life of a Digital Nomad in Switzerland

Silvia’s typical day reflects the flexibility she’s built into her life. She often starts her mornings with a fitness class, as she is also a certified fitness coach. Afterward, she may work from a café, park, or anywhere that inspires her—depending on the weather and her mood. Throughout the day, she teaches fitness classes, meets with clients (either in person or online), and juggles her responsibilities as a mother. Her workdays end much like they begin—often with another fitness session, making health and wellness a priority.

This balance between personal and professional life isn’t always easy, but for Silvia, it’s key to her happiness and health.

Challenges of Building a Flexible Business

Running a business while raising a family has presented Silvia with unique challenges. The Swiss business landscape, as she points out, is still quite traditional. With around 90% of the economy made up of small to medium-sized enterprises, many companies are hesitant to fully embrace flexible work models. “Switzerland has wealth, so we don’t have the same sense of urgency to adopt new ways of working,” she says. As a result, convincing companies to adopt these models takes time.

To navigate this challenge, Silvia has broadened her services to include topics like employer branding and future leadership, addressing the needs of companies that may not be ready to jump into remote work but are looking to evolve.

Changing Mindsets for the Future

While the mindset shift in Switzerland may be slow, Silvia believes that change is inevitable. The pandemic has already shown that flexibility is not just a trend but a necessity. “More and more people want to live like digital nomads—not necessarily by traveling all the time, but by embracing the flexibility that comes with it,” Silvia explains. She’s excited to continue growing her business while also documenting her experiences as a digital nomad and entrepreneur on social media, helping others see the benefits of this evolving work culture.

In the end, Silvia’s story is one of balance, adaptability, and forward-thinking. By fostering flexibility in both her personal life and business, she’s proving that you don’t have to follow the traditional path to be successful—you just have to create the one that works for you.
