How to Work Full Time as a Virtual Assistant and as a Single Mom

I get this question all the time. People are wanting to know how to balance the demands of life and work, but they also want to make sure they are doing it in a way that is going to allow them to enjoy the things in life that matter most.⁣

Keep a Schedule

I know this sounds like a given, but it's important to keep yourself on track. If you know that you're going to be working late one night, then don't schedule any meetings or appointments for that time period. It would be extremely frustrating for both parties if you have to cancel or reschedule at the last minute because you're working on something else. Doing this will also keep you on track with all the activities that your children have and you’ll never miss their doctor or dentist appointment.⁣

Do one thing at a time

Don't try to do too much at once. It's easy to want to clean while talking on the phone or fold clothes while working on another project but this can lead to mistakes and wasted time. If you know what needs to be done first, then do that first before moving on to something else so nothing gets lost in translation between tasks and no one is left hanging with no response because you were busy doing something else.⁣

Always take a day off

You need time off to rest and recharge your batteries so you can come back refreshed. If you don't take time off, you'll burn out quickly and won't be able to enjoy your work or your life!⁣

Don't be afraid to ask for help

Don't be afraid to reach out to someone who may be able to lend a hand or give you advice on how they manage their life while working full time while being a single mom or dad.  Another thing that has helped me out tremendously is hiring cleaning services once or twice a month when things are crazy busy! This gives me an extra hour or two each week.⁣

Well there you have it, some helpful hints on how to be a good parent while still working full time. It's not always easy to do, but with a little help and support, it's totally possible! While the perks of my job are too numerous to list (I work from home with flexible hours so I get to spend more time with my family), this setup has been really beneficial for my family overall. I hope these tips will work for you as well, as there is nothing more important than spending quality time with your children!
