How to Communicate Effectively and Appropriately while Working Remotely

Working with my client who is a behavioral therapist has taught me how to say my thoughts and words correctly. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Dealing with my client’s clients that have complicated and sensitive situations while having to work remotely is difficult as they can’t hear how I empathize with them, thus having me work hard on how to say things nicely and professionally. I am not an expert on how to communicate well, but here are the three main things that I learned for the past two months:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣

  1. Listening with Empathy and Comprehension⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
The first effective way on how to communicate effectively is to really listen. Not just having to listen for the sake of listening, but listening with empathy and comprehension. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
Whether it is through phone calls or email inquiries, you should learn how to empathize and comprehend the client’s situation and their need for the services. The moment a client notices that you are listening and very accommodating to their inquiries, they will be more honest and open to their situation. Through empathic and comprehensive listening, we would be able to think about the different ways that we can help them. In this way, they would also be comfortable in getting our services because they know that we listen. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
  2. Be Clear⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
The main reason why I only emphasized three key points in this article is that I want to be clear. Another thing that I learned working with my client and working remotely in 2xyou is by being clear. Actually, it is one of the things our CEO always emphasizes. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
Let’s not beat around the bush, we don’t have any time for that. By being clear, we get to say things that are more meaningful and relevant to the situation. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
By being clear on the message would not only save us so much time and irrelevant flowery words but also the unnecessary stress we would get by thinking about how to say things too nicely. Also, if I were the client, I would definitely want to hear a response that is straightforward if they can help me with my situation.⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
  3. Be Kind⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
One of 2xyou’s core values is being Kindly Confident. In this way, we are confident on when to step up while being mindful of other’s situations. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
Being clear on the message doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be rude in order to deliver the message. If you want to learn how to effectively communicate, you need to learn how to be kind. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
By being kind, it will effectively filter out the words to say, and when to say them. By being kind, it will let us notice the tone, message structure, and body language of whoever we are talking to. By being kind, it lets us say the most straightforward response without having the other person feel invalidated or offended. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣

You will never go wrong with kindness.⁣⁣⁣

    ⁣⁣⁣
Communicating effectively and appropriately is a struggle for most of us. We tend to overthink how to say the right words at the right time. You may try these three simple steps to start building your confidence in how to communicate well. ⁣⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣⁣
Whether it is in the workplace or at home, we should learn how to communicate effectively and appropriately so we may build a good relationship with the people around us. ⁣⁣⁣
